Freund, Gisèle
(19.12.1908 - 31.3.2000) Französische Fotografin deutscher Herkunft, sie emigrierte bereits 1933 aus Deutschland nach Paris und promovierte dort mit einer Arbeit über die Ursprünge der Fotografie. Ab 1935 arbeitete sie als Fotografin für diverse Magazine und spezialisierte sich auf Portraits von Literaten. Ihre Aufnahmen von James Joyce, Bertold Brecht oder Heinrich Mann begründeten ihren Ruhm. Ferner machte sie Fotoreportagen und gehörte neben Robert Capa zu den Gründern der Agentur "Magnum Photos".
